The Carpenter's Tower
Anchor of the Western reach of the ‘First’ section of the Kaiu wall, the Carpenter’s Tower serves as the administrative and communication hub with the ‘Second’ section of the wall across the Carpenter’s Road. The Carpenter’s tower is broad rather than tall, and its heavy stone walls rise only slightly higher than the neighboring wall, and the long and fat edge of the fortress is built into the River of the last Stand. Unlike the other towers, the Carpenter’s tower has a massive courtyard for marshaling large troop formations. From the battlements, both the lost Ienikaeru and Kinbou province can be seen.
The Carpenter’s Tower is responsible for the maintenance of the Carpenter’s Road and the reach of supplies to the southerly Hiruma territories. While Ienikaeru province is mostly lost to the Crab, the Kinbou is no more or less difficult to rule and administer than before the coming of the Maw.
The current Lord of the Tower, the ronin Kiendo, earned his place through his heroism and commitment to the War. It is widely believed the Ronin came from the Lion, though there is little proof and the older Lord won’t discuss his past before the Wall. In his time he has managed to defend the distant villages of the Kinbou and eastern Ienikaeru provinces and actually expand the holdings of the Emperor in the South.
